Gareth has an MSc in Health Economics and Health Policy from the University of Birmingham. His background is as a Health and Social Care Commissioning Manager, with extensive experience in Public Health Commissioning and project management in Primary and Urgent Care in the NHS. Gareth led a number of service redesign, commissioning projects and research studies and is a member of a NICE Technology Appraisal Committee B and a reviewer of health economics papers and grant applications for the National Institute of Health Research. He has a particular interest in quantitative evaluation and is an Associate Lecturer in Statistics for the Open University.
Gareth joined Oxford AHSN in 2019 as a Methodologist (Health Economics), responsible for conducting market analysis research and health economic appraisals to provide clients with the insight they need to bring their products to market in the UK. In this role, Gareth sees the key challenge as supporting productivity and the appropriate distribution of resources in the NHS, to help meet the ever-increasing demands for its services. He finds being at the cutting edge both rewarding and exciting.
